Graphic designer earns recognition for pandemic assistance

An Oakwood entrepreneur has won an award after offering big discounts to local small businesses during the pandemic.

Nick Pelekanos runs graphic design agency Pelekan Design Ltd as a “one-stop shop” for businesses; designing logos, branding, websites and printed materials.

Last month the business, which Nick runs as a sole trader, was named ‘Best Graphic Design Specialist’ at the London Prestige Awards.

It came after he decided to help other struggling local firms with half-price discounts during the pandemic. Nick said: “Many of my clients had to close due to lockdown or reduce the budgets they were spending with me.

“Early on when Covid-19 hit I recognised the need to support local small businesses so I decided to offer 50% off to all small businesses and start-ups, to support and help them during this tough period.

“The promotion was a huge success and as a result I was able to help over 20 small businesses with branding, logos and website designs. The clients ranged from local restaurants and entrepreneurs to start-ups who needed online websites or social media support.”

Pelekan Design was nominated for a London Prestige Award for the “innovative promotion” which helped boost both Nick’s trade and helped other struggling local businesses.

“It’s truly an honour to be recognised for all the hard work over the last year,” added Nick. “It’s been the toughest year so far for me and I feel blessed to have so many great clients.

“I am still offering this promotion for as long as lockdown continues.”
