Designing and Building the Stir Architects Website: From Figma to WordPress
At Pelekan Design, we recently had the pleasure of designing and developing a bespoke website for Stir Architects, a forward-thinking London-based architectural practice. The goal was clear from the outset: create a modern, visually engaging website that reflects the studio’s design ethos while remaining easy for their team to manage internally.
A Collaborative Design Process in Figma
Every successful website starts with a strong foundation—and for this project, that meant a fully bespoke design created in Figma.
We worked closely with the Stir Architects team throughout the design phase, translating their architectural style into a clean, structured digital experience. The process was highly collaborative, with regular feedback loops and refinements to ensure every detail aligned with their vision.
From typography and layout to project showcases and user flow, the entire site was carefully crafted in Figma before a single line of code was written. This allowed the client to fully visualise the end product and confidently sign off on the design before development began.
Custom WordPress Development for Flexibility
Once the design was approved, we moved into development—building the website from the ground up using WordPress.
Rather than relying on pre-built themes or templates, we created a fully custom
WordPress solution tailored specifically to Stir Architects’ needs. This approach ensured:

A key requirement for the client was the ability to update their own content easily—particularly as they regularly add new projects to their portfolio.
To achieve this, we implemented custom fields throughout the site. This means the Stir
Architects team can:
Add and edit projects without technical knowledge
Update images, text, and layouts effortlessly
Maintain consistency across all pages
The backend is clean, intuitive, and designed specifically around how they work—making ongoing website management simple and efficient.
Showcasing Architecture Through Design
The finished website, stir.london, is a true reflection of the studio’s architectural approach—minimal, refined, and focused on showcasing their work.
Large imagery, thoughtful spacing, and subtle interactions allow their projects to take centre stage, while the overall user experience remains smooth and engaging across all devices.
The Result
This project is a great example of how a collaborative design process, combined with custom development, can deliver a website that not only looks exceptional but also performs seamlessly behind the scenes.
